Dear Friends,

As you might know, we are in the process of launching the WALN Young Neurosurgeon Committee (WYNC) initiative.

This project will provide young WALN members (i.e. Residents, Fellows, and Medical Students) with a special committee which will focus on:
- relaying their special needs and concerns to the WALN Board of Officers,
- enhancing their neurosurgical education through getting more funds available for them as traveling fellowships and other forms of educational activities (e.g. neurosurgical meetings, special courses, books, surgical loupes, etc),
- helping these future neurosurgeons build excellent professional and personal relationships with each other through organizing frequent social meetings for them,
- helping WALN with the implementation of the Lebanese Board of Neurosurgery.

In order to achieve this, WYNC will be formed of 3-5 dynamic and hard-working young members, at least 2 of whom would be regional representatives (1 for Lebanon, the Middle East and Europe, and 1 for the Americas) and will thus have the direct responsibility of identifying the needs and concerns of young WALN members in their region and relaying them to WYNC. WYNC officers will meet on a regular basis to discuss those issues relating to young WALN members and will subsequently relay them to the WALN Board of Officers. WYNC will take advantage of the WALN Chatting system to facilitate its frequent meetings.

In brief, WYNC will function as a miniature WALN within WALN and will focus on the needs and concerns of young WALN members.
